Pilgrimages

  • SGT - The Way of Saint James, Northern Spain – Fall 2024

The missionary journey of James, also known as the ‘Way of Saint James’, is one of the most ancient and popular pilgrimage routes in the world. Often referred to as the Camino de Santiago or ‘the Camino’, the journey takes pilgrims through many different routes across Spain, France and Portugal and culminates in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in the north of Spain.

This trek is a perfect place for a discipleship journey. It not only provides space to hear God’s voice, but it also has enough grit to help the sojourner work through the toughest blocks to their development. The stopping points along the way provide respite, relationships with others, and yet keeps our focus on what we’ve set out to do.

Come with us as we forge the foundational building blocks of what it means to be a disciple in order for you to GO as you Go in your daily life.

  • SGT - The Path of Paul, Greece & Turkey

Paul began his missionary work in Europe in the city of Philippi by preaching to Lydia and the other god-fearing women who gathered at the river there (Acts 16). Visit the Baptistery of St. Lydia on the Krinides River and the ancient Roman Agora (Forum) - built during the time of Augustus and mentioned in the Book of Acts as the place where Paul was publicly punished after he healed the demon possessed girl. Also, sit on the ancient seats of the Greek Theatre (4th century BC), converted into an arena by the Romans and used during persecutions of the early Christians.

Nearby is Neapolis (present day Kavala), Greece's most picturesque mainland port where Paul arrived in this city with his coworkers Timothy and Silas (Acts 16). On the way back to Thessaloniki, you will pass through the ancient cities of Amphipolis and Apollonia as Paul did (Acts 17).

Journey with us to engage in and implement Paul’s teaching on discipleship, learning how to integrate this into your life of discipleship.

  • SGT - Paul's Journey through Rome – December 2024

Paul the apostle had a deep love for the church in Rome and sought to minister to them in person. In his letter to them, written toward the end of his third missionary journey, he said, “Constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God’s will the way may be opened for me to come to you” (Romans 1:9–10). What Paul didn’t know then was that he would indeed reach Rome; however, God’s method of getting him there was as a prisoner in chains.

Travel the roads where Paul reached gentiles for Christ, and understand how you too can reach oters for Jesus just as Paul did.

We’ve structured these journey’s to be similar to our international trips, only lacking the historical setting. These paths will take you down the same road of understanding what true discipleship looks like, how to grow as one, and challenge you to be a disciple-maker the rest of your life.

Check out trip options on the next page to determine what will work for you.

  • SGT - Israel – Spring 2025

Venture down the Via Dolorosa and other places Jesus taught His disciples and learn from the disciples’ view what it means to be a disciple and how we ore to be sent out.

The State of Israel is the only Jewish nation in the modern period, and the region that now falls within its borders has a lengthy and rich history that dates from pre-biblical times. The area was a part of the Roman Empire and, later, the Byzantine Empire before falling under the control of the fledgling Islamic caliphate in the 7th century CE. Although the object of dispute during the Crusades, the region, then generally known as Palestine, remained under the sway of successive Islamic dynasties until the collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I, when it was placed under British mandate from the League of Nations.
